2025 General Legislative Session Update: Week 7

Hello District 6!

As we reach the final week of the 2025 General Legislative Session, I’m proud to reflect on what we’ve accomplished together. After weeks of hard work, debate, and collaboration, we’re wrapping up another productive year at the Capitol.

Week 7 Video Update

Over the past 45 days, I’ve worked to advance policies that strengthen our communities, improve government transparency, and support working families. With the final votes cast, I’m pleased to report that our district’s priorities were well represented in the decisions made.

One of the biggest highlights this session was the successful passage of ALL of my proposed bills, particularly HB87, Drug Trafficking Amendments. This legislation will create a strong deterrent against fentanyl trafficking, disrupt large-scale trafficking networks, and make a meaningful impact in addressing our country’s opioid crisis. I deeply appreciate my colleagues who worked alongside me to pass this bill into law. In the end, 67 of my 74 colleagues co-sponsored HB87 with me.

While the session may be ending, our work doesn’t stop here. In the coming weeks, I’ll be hosting town halls and community meetings to discuss our accomplishments and have open conversations with community members like you. I encourage you to attend and reach out with any questions you may have.

Your engagement—whether through emails, phone calls, or conversations—has been invaluable in shaping the policies I advocate for. Representing District 6 is an honor, and I look forward to continuing the work to make our community even stronger.

I appreciate your support, and I look forward to staying in touch. Thank you for the opportunity to serve!

Thank you,

Matthew Gwynn
Representative, House District 6

I want to give a shoutout to my 2025 intern, Evelyn. Her hard work and upbeat attitude were a great help to me during this session! Thank you!
